Anyone spending time in Val di Funes or Luson is given a lot: the first glimpse of the Geisler peaks in the morning, the silence of the Luson Alp, the sound of cowbells somewhere below the trail. These are experiences you can't buy – and that's exactly why they're worth looking after.
From September 17 to 20, the South Tyrol CleanUP Days invite you to give something back to the landscape that gives us so much every day. The principle is simple: pick up a CleanUP kit – a litter picker and a bag – choose your favorite trail, and collect whatever doesn't belong there along the way. A tissue by the trailside, a forgotten bottle by a bench, a piece of plastic in the bushes. None of it is much on its own. Together, it makes a difference.
It's a quiet form of mindfulness that suits our valleys well: not an event with a starting number, but a deliberate walk with an open eye. Many say afterward that they experienced the trail differently than usual – slower, more attentively, more gratefully.
