Whether you're travelling from, there are many easy ways to reach the Dolomites. When travelling by train, your holiday begins while you're seated, looking out of large windows at the changing landscape.
South Tyrol is easy to reach with ÖBB, SBB and Deutsche Bahn. Here’s an overview of main routes.
From Italy
Travel from major Italian cities with Trenitalia, Italo or DB/ÖBB connections into South Tyrol.
From Germany & Austria
Daily direct trains from Munich to Brixen/Bressanone, plus ICE connections via Munich from elsewhere in Germany. From Vienna, a daily direct ÖBB Railjet to South Tyrol.
“Anschlussticket Südtirol”
On DB-ÖBB Eurocity (Munich–Bolzano) and in DB travel centres you can buy a discounted South Tyrol add-on ticket for local public transport. Valid on your arrival or departure day; date-marking required.
From Switzerland
Travel with SBB-ÖBB via Innsbruck and Brenner, or to Zernez and by bus to Mals/Malles. From Malles, regional trains and buses connect across South Tyrol.
The last mile to your stay
IC/EC stop at Brixen/Bressanone; regionals also at Klausen/Chiusa. With the Südtirol Guest Pass, car-free mobility is guaranteed (timetables on suedtirolmobil). Südtirol Transfer takes you directly from the station to your accommodation (shared or private, bookable online).
